All skincare products will oxidise if we don’t look after them.Oxidisation occurs when oils are exposed to too much air, (oxygen), or too much direct sunlight. Your Facial Oil No. 8 may become oxidised if the lid of the bottle isn’t consistently kept firmly closed when not in use, or it is left on a sunny windowsill for prolonged periods.Facial Oil No. 8 is always a pale blue colour, unless it is oxidised.This means that Facial Oil No. 8 is at its most blue when it is opened for the first time, but it will grow paler over time. It remains safe to use as long as it is stored properly, but if the oil is completely clear it should be disposed of, as this reveals that it is oxidised.Applying Facial Oil No. 8Using Facial Oil No. 8 couldn’t be easier. Simply follow these steps…Remove makeupExfoliate if needed, using hot water & a muslin clothApply toner, if desired. (You will need less facial oil if you use a Hydrosol Toner.)Place the pipette a few centimetres above your hand, and squeeze 2- 6 drops of facial oil on the pads of your fingertips.Replace the pipette in your facial oil bottle, closing it with your other hand.Do not touch your skin with the dispensing pipette to avoid contamination.Rub the tips of your fingers together to spread & warm the oil.Place the tips of your fingers just beneath your nose as you gently rub your fingers together. Inhale deeply whilst warming the oil to enjoy the calming & relaxing benefits of this oil.After a couple of inhalations, gently press your oil coated fingertips onto for forehead, cheeks and chin, then gently rub the oil into your face.Facial Oil No. 8 is suitable for application on eyelids as well as your face.Use a little more oil if you intend to moisturise your neck & décolletage.Winter Use Of Facial Oil No. 8Facial Oil No. 8 has been formulated to be as light as possible for use during the summer months, and for those with small pores and delicate skin. This has been achieved by using the lightest carrier oils possible, making it what the skincare industry refer to as a ‘dry oil’.Nevertheless, it is excellently moisturising in mild weather for most people.However, we all need something a little heavier to completely protect our skin from the damaging effects of cold weather. Freezing temperatures are what cause thread veins, aka spider veins, and they can really dry out our skin as well, (a condition known as xerosis). Cold weather can even prompt eczema outbreaks and hives.Because Facial Oil No. 8 has been developed for hot weather use, it isn’t suitable for winter use on its own.
